One of the reasons I really like electronic/computerized music is because of the strange variety that can be created. Obviously you can still get a wide range of sounds by using conventional instruments but I feel that there’s a little more freedom when you’re rockin it on the computer.

Dam Mantle (Tom Marshallsay) is on tour with Gold Panda and I can see why. I’m not absolutely enthralled with Gold Panda and find some of their stuff a little irritating after a while, but Dam Mantle is keeping it fresh. Instead of simply sounding like overly processed samples and synthetic beats, he’s using expansive and almost cinematic style samples. I love the way that he combines them, keeping it engaging and relevant but not overwhelming.
