I’m always excited when I find an artist that is giving away free downloads of their music. They might do it for a number of reasons, but to me, it just comes from the need to share beautiful art.

Nathan Edwin released ‘Willow Spillow’ as a free download, filled with tracks that didn’t make his full length album ‘Blah Blah Blondy’. He basically asked for donations to help him record and release the full length album and when he was met with overwhelming support, he decided to give back to the community through this EP. This is awesome.

All monetary discussions aside, it’s beautiful album. Mostly acoustic and singer/song writery, it could get lost in the overflowing world of do-it-yourself solo projects, but instead there’s a staying honesty and truth that makes his music wonderful. The first three tracks are mostly just guitar and when the fourth track hits with some electronic backing and cymbals, it’s fantastic. His voice isn’t abrasive, almost Dylan-esque sometimes, while still retaining a unique and true sound.
